Reunion 2004
Ex Shipmates and their partners
gathered at the Fleet Club, Devonport for a very convivial weekend.
Some early arrivals took the opportunity to have a tour round
one of H.M Naval ships on the Friday afternoon, where they were
very well received by members of the ships company.
10.30am Saturday members gathered
in the lounge for the Annual General Meeting. Followed by Up Spirits
and a very nice Buffet Lunch.
During the AGM the members expressed
their thanks to Shipmate Eddie Johnson for all the work he had
put in to make the reunion a success. We were all sorry the Eddie
could not make it to the reunion due to his enforced stay in hospital.
Due to increasing age of members
and the amount of work required to organise the reunions, it was
stated that this would be the last reunion where the whole weekend
was organised. In the future shipmates would gather at a designated
hotel where the dinner would be organised.

At 7.30pm shipmates gathered
for a Sherry reception followed by the Annual Dinner.

On Sunday an early start, and
we all caught a coach for the trip to Veryan Village, where members
attended the church service.
During the service a wreath
was laid at the War Memorial situated at the entrance to the churchyard,
this was then followed by a blessing of the show case containing
the H.M.S. Veryan Bay Memorabilia which has been deposited with
the church for safe keeping.

The Church service was followed
by an excellent lunch in the Veryan Village Sports Club together
with residents of the village who were also invited. At 3.30pm
we joined the coach for the trip back to Devonport Fleet Club.
